Porichoy Gupta A notorious book titled Gupta Ghatak (The Secret Assassin) has plagued the minds of many, both in the present and the past. It holds dark secrets that rob people of their peace. Through the midnight curiosity of a foreigner, we dive into the chilling tale of a masked assassin. The year is 1950. In the noble family of Calcutta, Raghavendra, a close friend of Mr. Sharadindu Nath Sen, meets a tragic death, casting a shadow of grief over the household. Witnesses at a night bar claim to have seen a mysterious woman in a black saree at the crime scene. During the investigation, Police Commissioner John Howards and his team discover a diamond earring left behind. Desperate to escape the sorrowful atmosphere, Sharadindu decides to retreat to his ancestral home, where his elder sister-in-law, Manikuntala Devi, guards the family's wealth like a vigilant Yaksha. Through the house attendant, Kali Kaka, we learn that Manikuntala Devi's husband vanished mysteriously just a week after their wedding. Rumors about his existence swirl among the villagers, casting doubt and suspicion. Meanwhile, Sharadindu's wife, Snehlata Devi, is troubled by the strange dynamics between her husband and Manikuntala. Before heading to the ancestral estate, Sharadindu meets Upasak Mukherjee, an archaeologist. To deepen their newfound friendship, Upasak joins Sharadindu and his younger brother, Mahendra, on their journey to the ancient house. Upon arrival, Upasak is struck by the eccentric presence of Subala, a trusted servant who has loyally served the family for over thirty years. Subala is a man but is always dressed in a saree, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the household. As the shadows of the past loom large, Sharadindu is haunted by memories of his father's infidelity-a scandal that branded him mad in the eyes of the Zamindar household. At the same time, police inquiries reveal that Snehlata had a hidden relationship with Raghavendra, but she married Sharadindu solely for his wealth.
